Welcome to Oklahoma's on-line update on design and construction of our State Capitol dome!

At long last, an 87-year-old dream is becoming reality as Oklahoma finally completes what we started in 1914, when ground was first broken on our State Capitol. The original plans for a majestic dome had to be deferred because of lack of funds and through the years, Oklahoma had the only Capitol in America which was originally designed for a dome . . . but which lacked one.

Now, thanks to many individuals, corporate and foundation donors, our dome is rising above the Capitol skyline, with completion scheduled for late in 2002. This website will give you day-by-day updates on progress as one of the largest freestanding cranes in the world and a small army of skilled workers labor to raise our long-awaited dome.
