The portion of the capitol that was built in 1915 was constructed of limestone with a granite base. Shown at the left is the south grand stair entrance with ornate Corinthian capped columns. The new Dome construction will be made of a combination of architectural precast concrete and cast stone elements. They are manmade materials that can span structurally and will have a "sugar cube" finish and color that will match the original construction.

Shown to the right are today's man made materials that will be used where previously the hand carved stone and hand tooled plaster were made by skilled craftsman. The Corinthian column capitol for use on the Dome exterior is architectural precast concrete and the detailed cast plaster will be used on the inner Dome.
