INTRODUCTION
After 87 years this majestic crown will top the Oklahoma State Capitol on statehood day, November 16, 2002. Soaring 155 feet in height, the dome will measure 80 feet in diameter and will include a 17 foot tall Native American bronze statue on top.

The architectural detailing of the dome includes both an external dome visible from the exterior and an inner dome visible from the rotunda. Many portions of the existing saucer dome will be saved as historic artifacts including the stained glass skylight, plaster crown, and cut limestone. Construction materials to be used include structural steel, architectural precast concrete, cast stone, and fiberglass reinforced plaster.

Capitol Dome Builders, a joint-venture, design-build team consisting of Manhattan Construction and Flintco Inc. are building the project. Frankfurt-Short-Bruza is providing architectural design and engineering for the $21 million project. Currently, structural analysis and architectural design plans have been completed and construction is underway. Scheduled completion date is November 2002.
