Because of the high profile nature of the dome project along with its
uniqueness, the Governor and legislative leader, Senator Kelly
Haney together with Frankfurt-Short-Bruza (FSB), the
architect-engineer of record for this project saw a unique
opportunity to get school kids involved with the project. The
goal was to design and complete a flier that helped educate
Oklahoma kids about the dome; it's various features and history.
FSB created the
“Anatomy of the Dome” flier as a learning tool for students.
It features a breakdown of all the components of the dome's
construction as well as a historical
time line that begins with the
Oklahoma Land Run in 1889 and runs to the completion of the
Oklahoma State Capitol Dome on Statehood Day November 16, 2002.
The flier has been a great success since its completion and is
part of the 2002 school curriculum in the Oklahoma City Public
Schools. The curriculum has since expanded statewide and is in
great demand by educators in Tulsa, Lawton, Anadarko, and
Woodward. Awards include:
